Hi, thanks for reaching out! This port was several months in the making and actually uses a different codebase compared to the Steam version, which is why it is being sold separately.
That would be awesome indeed! I have been planning this for a while, so while I currently don't have an ETA, it will hopefully happen sooner than later.
Hello. I bought this game on Steam and I think it is absolutely fantastic! I also have Miyoo Mini hanheld (with Onion OS) and I wonder if is it possible to run this Retro Pie version of Donut Dodo on Onion OS?
This build should run on most arm32 based systems with some kind of Linux OS, as long as you're familiar with manually installing and running files, as the included installer is built for the RetroPie filesystem.
That said, I have no prior experience with Onion OS, so I cannot say for sure.
Thank you so much for porting this to Pi! However, it seems this is compiled for 32bit architectures, and most Pi4's run raspian 64bit (without the multi-arch options). However, that didn't get in the way of me trying to run it in my arcade cab, so I built a tiny pi zero 2 w jamma rig, and it plays perfectly! https://x.com/ArcadeFever/status/1776800125521965279 I hope Cash Cow DX will get a similar port to Pi.
Wow, what a great project! It was really for cool projects like this that the port was intended for.
I do plan on porting Cash Cow DX over next, this time with native arm32 and arm64 builds, which should run on RetroPie and Batocera as well as most Linux arm based SOCs.
If that works well enough, I'll do the same for Donut Dodo.
Don't know why but i'm not able to make it run on Portmaster (powkiddy). :(. any idea what could be?. i just follow the instruccion on the portmaster site but once i open it, just kicks me back to portmaster gamelist.
Sorry about that. It might be hard to track down the issue as following the instructions usually works fine. Maybe the dedicated forums or subreddits could be of help? If you cannot get it to work, feel free to get back to me and I'll try and get your purchase refunded. Thank you.
Finally manage to make it work!!. Problem was that i had the "base portmaster" installed , wich laks some libs files. Solution was to install the full portmaster version, wich includes all runtimes i was missing. Hope this helps someone else!. great little game...love the arcade vibe of it. Cheers!!
Absolutely! As soon as I've finished launching Cash Cow DX (including for Pi 4 & 5), I'll work on installers for Batocera and Recalbox and update the builds. Coming soon.

Hey, perhaps you could give this game a "Steamboat Willie"makeover?. The original Mickey and Minnie Mouse are now public domain and can be used for any purpose, including to make money!. So long as they remain recognizeable as being from that original short, and not any future version. So they can't be in color, and they can't be voiced.
A Steamboat Willie mod would be fun to do. I am curious to see how many games, movies and books will incorporate the original Mickey in their projects going forward.
Tons no doubt. It was a long time coming, and would've happened a full 25 years earlier if Disney didn't lobby for a copyright term extension under false pretenses. I think a great thing for game developers is the possibility of using him as a Mario replacement, especially for fan projects that no longer have to be "fan projects" because of this. They can be legally distinct now while still having an appealing and recognisable mascot character.
Will the main game be sold on Itch.io in the future?. I would also like to request a native Linux binary as well, perhaps in the Appimage format for ease-of-use and cross distribution compatibility.
Currently only builds for niche systems or experimental formats are hosted on itch.io, with the mainstream PC builds on Steam. I have been wanting to add a native Linux binary for a while, but have not yet found a way of doing so without players potentially losing their save states on the Steam Deck, since Proton uses different (translated) paths for storing game data.
I have not tested the game with Recalbox or Batocera, but in theory it should run fine since the build itself is made for Raspberry Pi hardware. What was made specifically for Retropie is the installer, so for other operating systems, things like the installation paths and permissions would likely have to be edited/set manually for everything to function as expected.
Thanks for making this available. It's a great game. For people having a permissions issue when trying to install; use the following command: chmod +x install-dd.sh. You will now be able to install the game.

Hi! I have purchased your game on steam, is there any way I can get these files from the steam folder? Do I need to purchase it again?

Is there a chance to make an installation for batocera in raspberry pi4,5?
Absolutely! As soon as I've finished launching Cash Cow DX (including for Pi 4 & 5), I'll work on installers for Batocera and Recalbox and update the builds. Coming soon.
thanks....it play superb on retropie pi4 but on retropie pi5 something is missing and for batocera on pi5 install dont work.
Thanks for your feedback on the pi5. I'll look into it asap.
to help you in log file i got this error
/opt/retropie/supplementary/runcommand/runcommand.sh: line 1319: /home/pi/RetroPie/roms/ports/DonutDodo/DonutDodo.pi: cannot execute: required file not found
The file paths seem to have changed between versions. I'll update the install script accordingly with the next update. Thank you!

I already have the game on steam, but I would like this version too. Is it possible to run this arcadey version on a regular pc with windows?
For now this build only works on ARM based SBC's/SOC's, sorry.
Hey There! I bought the version on here but don't have a Raspberry Pi. Any chance I can get a Steam version instead?
Cheers!
Hey, please contact support@pixel.games and we'll work it out.
Awesomeness! Thanks!
Love this game and played it a lot on Steam. I'm looking forward to playing Cash Cow!
That's very kind, thank you.

Thanks for creating this joyful game and providing it for pocket money!
For those RetroPie users still having trouble (with v1.39) with the input mapping you may look there [1] for additional options.

Thanks a lot for your very kind feedback and for sharing the link with the additional info.
Thanks for making this available. It's a great game. For people having a permissions issue when trying to install; use the following command: chmod +x install-dd.sh. You will now be able to install the game.
Thanks a lot for your kind comment and for helping out with the permissions issue.
You're welcome. Looking forward to the sequel to this game.:)
Fantastic!
